This proves the once-coveted attacker was desperate for a move out of Spain and desired a reunion with a manager who always finds a use for him. Regular football was in order for the 29-year-old, and Merseyside is where he will get it.
Also, at the end of the deal, Real Madrid are more than happy to offload the outcast who was unfavoured at the Bernabeu by Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman made it known he was never a part of his plans.
This would go down as Everton’s marquee signing of the summer. The deal is said to be worth £20 million. This represents some of the better business the Toffees have done in the market, having signed the 2014 Fifa World Cup Golden Boot winner for just £20m.
James Rodriguez has experience playing for the highest honours in the Champions League, Bundesliga, La Liga, and on the World’s biggest stage, the World Cup. Twenty million is a steal but with a year left on his contract, could fell both clubs won in the end.
Normally Everton would be four or five new incomings down and getting ready to lose their opening four fixtures. With Carlo Ancelotti, there is more stability at Goodison Park.
Not heavily active in the market but bringing in a couple of players who know what the Premier League winning manager wants to be done on the pitch.
