Man United looks set to announce their first summer arrival in the appearance of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Finally! A breakthrough in the transfer market as it is said the Eredivisie champions have accepted a bid worth £40 million from the Manchester club for their midfielder Donny van de Beek.

"Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek after the two clubs agreed a fee in the region of £40m."

Less than 24 hours ago news broke that Man United were monitoring the situation for the Dutchman and were ready to make their move. Due to other top European clubs wanting to sign him as well, United needed to act fast in order to stop them from trying to highjack their purchase.

Real Madrid, Spurs, and Barcelona were all said to be big admirers of the player, with Barca wanting him to link up with his countryman, Frenkie de Jong. The Top Flight reported late on Saturday night that van de Berk was left out of the Ajax squad when they met Eintracht Frankfurt for a friendly on Saturday. He was then subsequently left out of the friendly verse German side Union Berlin the day thereafter.

Following this, it seems there has been rapid movement in negotiations between the pair. All that must be resolved are personal terms between the English club and the player, with a medical to be completed and the deal can be announced. The agreement on the table is for a five-year commitment. Wages still an ongoing discussion.

"It is understood United have now firmed up their interest with a medical and personal terms still to be concluded.Van de Beek is set to sign a five-year deal, which should allow him to be available for United’s opening game of the 2020-21 season, against Crystal Palace on 19 September. This has been the quickest the Old Trafford outfit has worked this summer. After being linked with a move for Jadon Sancho since the beginning of the year, the player looks more settled at Signal Iduna Park with Borussia Dortmund than reaching a deal with Manchester United.

This should settle the fans and subside some of them complaining about the lack of progress made in the transfer market. Once a United player (barring any late slip-ups in negotiations on Ed Woodward’s side) United must treat the deal between them and Dortmund for Sancho as important as this one.

They must not waste time on bringing in the English attacker. Who follows Donny through the doors at Carrington Road is a total mystery. That’s if anybody is following Donny van de Berk through the doors.
