Ole Gunnar Solskjaee is yet to receive his first signing this summer.
Manchester United have seen their €25million bid for Benoit Badiashile rejected by AS Monaco, who are reluctant to sell the emerging defensive superstar this summer, as per multiple reports in France.
Benoit Badiashile has made his name as one of the brightest prospects in Europe after a few assuring performances at the heart of Monaco’s defence at the raw age of 19. The France youth international has attracted interest from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid, besides Manchester United.
Despite forking out around €90m on Harry Maguire last summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still searching for missing elements to further tighten the central defence. An interest in Gabriel Magalhaes, who has completed his move to Arsenal, was genuine but no significant steps were taken.
United have identified Badiashile as a perfect long-term asset for the club, citing all the vital features in the French youngster’s game which could be improved upon. The Old Trafford bosses had made an inquiry previously to monitor the situation around the defender’s transfer status.

"AS Monaco have rejected a €25m offer from Manchester #United for defender Benoît Badiashile – Niko Kovac has told his board that he wants to keep the Frenchman & that they should reject all bids for him.A source close to Monaco now indicates that Badiashile will stay “unless Manchester make a Martial-like, unrefusable bid for him.” Bayer Leverkusen, who have been in talks to sign the player for weeks, intend to come back with a new offer regardless. AS Monaco, aspiring to compete with Paris Saint-Germain on domestic fronts, are reluctant to let go off their talented assets this summer. Instead, there is an eagerness to further bolster their options, keeping tabs on wantaway Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.
From Man United’s perspective, the negotiating members are expected to improve their previous offer for Benoit Badiashile as Solskjaer remains keen on strengthening his defensive options. However, Jadon Sancho, still, remains a priority for the Reds.
