Manchester United: Plotting a lucrative move for Atletico’s Saul Niguez
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to improve on his third-place finish in the Premier League last season.
The process of shaping the squad ahead of the 2020/21 campaign for Manchester United has begun, despite their Europa League fate yet to be decided. But, it only makes sense given the short resting period before the next term starts.
Despite all eyes being on Jadon Sancho, Man united bosses are considering multithreaded operations in the transfer market to allow Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with optimum opportunities to finalise his group of players.
As per recent reports emerging from the Daily Star, the club’s hierarchy is planning to restart negotiations for Atletico Madrid’s midfielder, who was on club’s radar last summer but failed to materialise the transfer.
It is understood that the club’s chiefs are open to offering a lucrative deal worth £150,000-per-week, and Saul himself is said to be keenly viewing the prospect of featuring alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.

"Niguez has become disillusioned at Atletico and criticised his side’s display following the 2-1 defeat to Leipzig in Lisbon. He said: “It hurts to lose, but our rivals were better in the game. They raised the tempo and we did not know how to react. They were superior to us, and at times we were not even close to stopping them.” (Daily Star)"
Saul Niguez has established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in European football. Under the stewardship of Diego Simeone, the Spain international has developed into a midfield dynamo and his versatility would certainly bode well with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s fluid system.
Having doubts over Atletico Madrid’s ambition, Niguez has been mulling over his future at his boyhood club, citing lack of investment in the squad which needs significant changes to compete with the European heavyweights again.
Besides obvious qualities on the ball, Saul brings immense Champions League experience with himself, a salient factor for Manchester United, considering several first-team members set to make their debuts in the elite competition next season.
Priced around £70million, Man United should manage their funds and make a concrete attempt to lure Saul to the Theatre of Dreams.
