The Reds 2016/2017 season

Liverpool had no Champions League or Europa League football during this time, except to focus on getting into the top four. Klopp made some great buys with the likes of Sadio Mané coming from Southampton, Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle, Joel Matip from Schalke, and Loris Karius from Mainz 05.

With Mané, Firmino and Coutinho hitting double digits in the season, the team looked like they were finally coming together. Liverpool was being transformed into a powerhouse and while this was being done, Klopp was slowly getting rid of the deadwood.

Liverpool, unfortunately, did not win any silverware but they did qualify for the Champions League finishing 4th that season. At this point, Klopp had some doubters, after all, everybody wants trophies but on the other hand, supporters and the owners at Fenway Sports Group believed in what he was doing and building.
