Frank Lampard: Fitting Hakim and Werner into the Chelsea team next season
By Varun Aithal
How can Frank Lampard integrate Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech?
Tammy Abraham has started 20 times out of 25 games played in Premier League for Chelsea. In the due process, he has 13 goals and 4 assists to his name.
On the other hand, Werner has played a significant role in RB Leipzig’s Champions League pursuit. Werner has 25 goals and 8 assists in 31 Bundesliga games. The former Stuttgart player fares far better in several aspects of the game when compared to Abraham.
Timo Werner has a 75.4 pass percentage compared to the 67.4 percentage of Tammy Abraham. Also, the German international has 1.6 key passes per game, whereas Tammy has 0.8 key passes per game. These things make Timo Werner indispensable and a sure starter for the Blues.

Hakim Ziyech is expected to occupy the right side of the midfield and can operate as a right-winger during the transition from defense to attack. On the other hand, Christian Pulisc will be moved to the left flank. The breakthrough Chelsea star, Mason Mount, is expected to operate as an attacking midfielder under Frank Lampard.
If Frank Lampard thinks of integrating Tammy to the line-up, Timo Werner can be dropped a bit deeper and put on the left flank, allowing him to operate as a left-winger. Christian Pulisic can play in his usual right-wing position, and Hakim Ziyech should be used as an attacking midfielder.
However, Werner has one thing inferior compared to Tammy Abraham. The big Englishman has won 3.2 aerial duels in Premier League compared to the 0.2 of Timo Werner. However, Frank Lampard can overcome the aerial incapability by tweaking his tactics on the field.
The transfer window is yet to start. Chelsea’s linked with sensations like Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen and Ben Chilwell of Leicester City. Can Chelsea develop themselves into a title-winning side with these signings? With time they will.
