How will more substitutes affect the remainder of the Fantasy Football season?

5. Teams have voted to allow 5 subs per match for the rest of the season. If you thought Pep roulette was bad before then you’ve not seen anything yet! I would expect the first few games to be treated almost as a pre-season friendly, with multiple half-time subs and plenty of rotation.

Obviously, if rotation is a blanket issue then there’s not a lot you can do about it, but you can look to players who are rarely or never subbed off (VVD, Maguire, James Ward-Prowse have all played every minute so far).

6. Linked to point 5, the players are likely to take a bit of time to get up to match fitness, so plenty of rotation in starting line ups is to be expected, as well as making full use of 5 subs per game. It will also be a bit of a lottery as to who is still fit and who isn’t, will Adama Traore be able to blast past defenders like they are not even there or has he lost a yard of pace? Only time will tell.

7. To further compound those above issues, the league has set a gruelling pace to get the season finished, with matches basically every day and teams playing at the weekend and in midweek most weeks. Of course, the bigger teams have the squad depth to cope but smaller teams could struggle to maintain intensity.
