Newcastle: The Matty Longstaff takeover with the Italian backing
Italian side Udinese goes huge and could go home with Newcastle’s Matty Longstaff. The Player has already denied a contract renewal with the Toon side outfit.
Before October 2019, not many knew about Matty Longstaff. They identified a Longstaff, yes, but not this one. The youngster’s claim to fame was a display of the highest order against top-six side, Man United.
A late 72nd-minute, low driver from outside the box sealed the visitor’s fate and confirmed all the points for one of the teams sitting outside of the drop zone but far from safety. The player in discussion and making headlines was not the usual suspect of the family.
In fact, it was his older brother, Sean Longstaff. He too hasn’t been any different from his sibling from the moment he made his Premier League debut. Since the mention of the pair of Longstaff fellows, there have been many transfer links away from St James’ Park.
Sean Longstaff – Man United links
Just after Premier League survival under former manager, Rafa Benitez, the longest living Longstaff was linked with a move to Old Trafford. Almost sure he was going to make the switch in the summer or winter window that followed.
However, nothing materialised from the £50m transfer rumour and he stayed put, got injured, and put in the work to get back to full fitness. Now he waits for the club’s situation, regarding the buyout.
Sean’s contract expires in 18 months. He too meets the tough choices faced by a footballer. Especially those destined to be exceptional players.

Serie A’s 14th place Udinese is ready to take the Newcastle breakthrough away with the right and, what must be said, tempting offer. As per Sky’s reports, it’s not just the one Italian outfit, but a couple of others who have been in talks with the Englishman.
Judging by the £15k-per-week refusal, Newcastle being his hometown club is not going to stand in the way of his decision. Adding to the likelihood of him leaving, the club’s Saudi takeover. They will invest in big signings to take them where they want it in quick succession, keeping first-team selection to a minimum.
If they get a manager like Mauricio Pochettino in, then Matty shouldn’t hesitate to stay at St James’ Park. If not, Matty has a better chance at top-flight action while abroad and for 30k-a-week, it doesn’t sound like a bad proposition. The script says he is desperate to stay at home, but money can make you love the new home you find.
