Mauro Icardi: No Premier League move for the on-loan striker
The on-loan striker from Inter Milan is enjoying his time in France and appears to have a better idea of his future, as he looks to pen a long-term deal with Paris St. Germain.
PSG is ready to make the deal for Mauro Icardi a permanent one after a successful loan spell. It was reported the French champions (depending on the court case) have offered Inter €50M + €10M in add-on for the wantaway forward. In return, it is being said the player will receive a €190k-per-week contract.
Following the opening bid for the striker came a rejection from the Italian club. They will want more money for a striker who’s going to be a first-choice at another club, especially a club they are anticipating to meet and play for the Champions League. So expect more handoffs by the Italian side until the price is right.

Is Icardi worth more than the first bid?

Despite the issues caused by COVID-19, PSG’s fearsome frontline was too hot to handle. They managed to score 75 goals in the 27 games played before the season was rudely interrupted and suddenly terminated.
Of those 75 goals, the Argentine scored 12 and assisted a further two, contributing to 14 goals altogether in his maiden campaign. He started 14 times for the club he wants to join, permanently. Also, he is 27-years-old and entering the prime years of his football career.
The Parisians will be receiving his best years in a time they look for replacement forwards. Inter will be losing most of their front force come the summer window. They will need to recuperate all the funds they can if they want to dip into the market and get ready for a Serie A title push, plus a Champions League fight.
A Premier League move no more
Sadly, this brings forth the conclusion there will be no Premier League story for the prolific goalscorer. Once PSG gets hold of a player, it either takes a player years to break free of the restraints, or they end up giving up on the fight to leave the club.
Man United was the Premier League club rumoured the most to be in for his services, but nothing ever materialised. In all honesty, United and the Premier League could have missed a bullet with this one.

The player has always shown he will go to extreme ends to get his way. Clubs that are trying to build a team mentality where no single player is better than the next one, cannot take on players like Mauro. He does things for himself like he has been forcing move out of the San Siro for consecutive seasons.
Nonetheless, it would be an amazing feature in the EPL if he was playing for either of the top six. The biggest spanner that can be thrown in the mix and what could make life so exciting in this almost predictable transfer window is if Newcastle came in robbed PSG of Icardi’s signature.
