A day later and already a public announcement from the Man United boss on Shanghai Shenhua, Ighalo, and his future at Old Trafford.

The Top Flight reported that Odion Ighalo could be taking an early shower and packing his bags for home. Home, being China and back with the Shanghai Shenhua. A deal for the forward could not be reached before crucial decisions must be made by the two clubs.

The Chinse outfit need their star player back and United need his surprisingly influential form in front of goal. Because the Chinese soccer Super League is kicking off in June, there will be no time for Ighalo to work off the remainder of his duties in England.

More from Manchester United

"The loan deal went until the end of May now, so obviously he’s supposed to be going back. We’re in dialogue. They’ve been great towards us, his club, and allowed him to play for his dream club. It’s been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish off what he started, hopefully with a trophy for us. At the moment, nothing has been agreed. Their league is going to get started soon so we’re just waiting to see. (Via: manutd.com)"

Does this still affect the permanent deal?

As per Solskjaer’s words “it’s been a dream for him and hopefully, he can finish off what he started, hopefully with a trophy for us”, can we safely say there will be no everlasting stay for the Nigerian? It looks as if his United dream has ended in a bit of a nightmare because of the virus, as well as being unable to reach an agreement on the asking price from the Shanghai side.

If he needs to finish off his great run at the club with a trophy, it would be so that he has a memorabilia of his time at Old Trafford. If they were going to make his stay permanent, there would be no rush for silverware would there?

The manager says nothing concrete has been agreed upon between the duo but we all know it will be extremely difficult for the Chinese club to replace their best player in such a short time, as well as under the restraints caused by COVID-19.
