Newcastle takeover update – One step forward and two steps back
After consecutive weeks of positive progression in the Newcastle buyout, more and more negatives flock in, in the final stages of the deal. This is making it near impossible for the Premier League to pass the transaction.
The biggest issues encompassing this Newcastle deal is the one brought up by broadcasting partners, BeIN Sport. They delivered news of the Magpies potential owners’ suspicious exercise in illegal streaming.
Adding to this, it has been reported 10 Premier League clubs will come together in a bid to block the sale of the club. This due to unrest growing amongst them and the worry of “commercial concerns”. This besides the call from human rights activist beckoning for a block in the sale as well.

During the final inspections of the “Premier League’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test”, evidence was found in the documents handed over to EPL officials. It is said, there were links between the Saudi state and the illegal broadcasting being brought into question.
"At least 10 Premier League clubs could reportedly block Newcastle’s proposed £300m Saudi Arabian takeover.Unrest is believed to be growing and they could group together to demand the Premier League block the sale on the basis of commercial concerns.Fresh legal documents have been submitted to the League which it is claimed provide evidence of a link between the Saudi state and illegal streaming of sports in the country. There are numerous legal cases currently ongoing in relation to this matter. (Via: dailymail.co.uk)"
It has gone from great to good to extremely critical
Innocent until proven guilty, right? Well, if found guilty of this piracy football streaming, they will be blocked from making the long-overdue purchase of a club in need of new ownership, ASAP.
BeIN’s revelation of this backdoor activity is not the first time it has surfaced. BT Sport and Sky Sports have also been reported sending a request to the “USA Government to sanction the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia because of TV piracy as recently as January 2020”.
The fate of the deal is now in the hands of the Premier League, with fans worried they might be dealt the same fate as previously when Mike Ashley failed to finalise the deals.
