Plan, plan, plan, and plan some more. All the plans for the return of the Premier League and others are being put into place. FIFA have announced they could allow clubs to have five substitutions to help withstand the swift return to action.

FIFA is looking for ways to help ease teams back into the swing of things. The abrupt postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic has hindered teams from staying 100% fit and ready for 90 minutes of soccer.

There are no guarantees players will be able to play full matches, especially at the demand being forecasted, where they are trying to end proceedings by June 30. FIFA is exploring all options available throughout this confusing period, starting with how many changes they allow in a single game.

Talks of changing the number of substitutions per game from three to five players is the proposal, and quite frankly an elective each club would be very in favour of. If not, they can start prepping the injury table for many injuries incoming.

"When competitions resume, such competitions are likely to face a congested match calendar with a higher-than-normal frequency of matches played in consecutive weeks.Safety of the players is one of FIFA’s main priorities. One concern in this regard is that the higher-than-normal frequency of matches may increase the risk of potential injuries due to a resulting player overload. In light of this, and in light of the unique challenge faced globally in delivering competitions according to the originally foreseen calendar, FIFA proposes that a larger number of substitutions be temporarily allowed, at the discretion of the relevant competition organiser. In competitions where less than five substitutions are currently allowed, each team would now be given the possibility to use up to five substitutions during the match, with the possibility of an additional substitution remaining during extra time, where relevant. (Via: Sky Sports)"

Teams most affected by this

Teams who are thin and have little quality throughout their entire squad will suffer the most. This in return is where all managers will make their money and show their brilliance in managing their players’ time on the pitch while obtaining maximum rewards for their efforts.

Bigger squads will find it easy to survive. However, the break has aided most, if not, all who had personnel out absent from selection. They welcome them back to fight the good football fight. Full strength versus full strength, barring any problems post COVID-19.

This is a comeback I am ready for!
