Odion Ighalo has decisions to make on his future. Shanghai Shenhua has offered the striker a two-year extension to fend off a United stay.

The good form of Odion Ighalo has emitted a war for his signature between the two clubs who own him. His parent club Shanghai Shenhua has offered a two-year extension in an attempt to stop him from making his stay at Old Trafford a permanent one.

The Nigerian hitman has been a hit since joining the Manchester side late in the January transfer window. A move that involved a drop in wages for the player has seen a lift in results for the club.

Due to these string of good showings, United have definitely looked into keeping him at the club for an extended period. However, such a decision made will result in him taking a long-term hit on his salary. A knock looking even greater after the Shanghai club through a bigger bone in his plate worth over £400k.

Odion Ighalo loves Man United

Ighalo has always expressed his love for the English giants and explained how easy the move was to make initially when signing. Ad mentioned previously, he took a pay cut when joining, but not even that was going to stop him.

Adding to this, he knew he would never be the club’s starter, yet, since coming in for Ole Gunner Solskjær he has made it difficult for the manager not to use him. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Odion was proving to be extremely useful when called upon.

Money over fame?

The choice is either to make sure he and his family are sorted for the rest of life or if he wants to return to the world’s toughest football stage and fight for a spot. If he stays at the club, reports suggest the deal is worth £15 million.

The worry is more of the season running over the date when his contract expires in May, due to the Coronavirus outbreak. This is why Man United want to act fast and Shanghai Shenhua even faster. At the end of it all, he has his heart set on a permanent stay in England, rather than tripping back to China where he was once the leader of his team.

My co-expert believes United should sign a better forward rather than hold onto Ighalo. I’m on the side of him staying in Manchester, as they’d probably never find such great backup to Marcus Rashford, and a player so in love with a bag.
