Fans and rival fans can appreciate his progression over the years, and yes it might be a bit late in his career, but it seems like he is somebody possessed.
By far his best season considering his goal contribution to the Reds. Three goals and 5 assists after 25 appearances, which has already improved in comparison to last season where he registered 1 goal and 3 assists in 32 Appearances. He is great defensively, has improved with his forward passing, key passes and long balls.
To top it off he has been an excellent role model and captain for Liverpool. Another great assist by him for the Mane goal the past weekend against Norwich where Liverpool struggled to put the game to bed in the early stages.
He is versatile and leads by example, and is quite commendable considering he was going to be sold off to Fulham years ago, but he preferred to stay and fight for his place. He has become an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s system.
Every team needs that leader who drives the team on, and he clearly shows he is that man for Liverpool. Football is a team sport and he is part of a team that is doing exceptionally well. Fans do oversee his worth because he is playing next to some talented individuals, however, week in and week out he makes the starting XI.
Sadly his superb run will see an abrupt pause due to an injury sustained in the Reds Champions League 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid and will be missing for three weeks of action.
