Bruno Fernandes is probably the most trending name in the winter transfer window. The player more than grateful he has finally made his switch.

The transfer that took Man United over six months to complete is the most talked-about transfer in the world at the moment. The switch made for £62M from Sporting Lisbon to Man United is the club’s first signing of the January window.

What was worrying is how many times the deal went dead. A couple of times both clubs couldn’t agree on a final fee, which led to Man United pulling out of the transfer. Or so we thought. Just a couple of days before the last day of the winter window and Man United made sure they signed their primary target, Bruno Fernandes.

More from Manchester United

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder was the one pushing hard for the transfer to go through as he grew frustrated with his time in Portugal. He wants to follow in the footsteps of the great Lisbon company that came before him and make a name for himself in United’s history books.

The player was delighted with his move and happy the worst is behind him.

Bruno on the club’s website

"My love of Manchester United really started when I used to watch Cristiano Ronaldo play and ever since then I have been a big fan of this great club. For me to now play for Manchester United feels incredible, I have worked hard to get to this moment and I can promise the fans that I will give everything for the badge to help bring us more success and trophies.I want to thank Sporting for everything they have done for me.  It is surreal to hear the nice words that have been said about me from players that used to play for this team.A massive thank you to Ole and everyone at Manchester United for the trust they have shown in me and I can’t wait to start to repay that on the pitch. What United had to agree on to get Bruno

The first instalment to be paid by United is said to be £62 million with add-ons taking the total to £70m. The add-ons are as follows…

  • Sporting will receive about £840k for every five starts until he reaches 25-years-old
  • £4.2 if Man United qualify for the Champions League
  • Another £4.2 for every time he wins the PFA PotY award – Or finishes in the top three of the Ballon d’Or, capped at three times.

In reality, when considering United’s current situation and all of the above, how well do you think he will do? And will United be coughing all these funds up? If they are paying all these fees it would mean the club has found success.

So the real question is, will they find success easily now that he is a Man United player?
