Transfer News: Spurs found their Eriksen replacement in Steven Bergwijn
Movement in the window is shifting from 20 miles per hour to 100 miles per hour. From losing a playmaker in Eriksen to gaining one in Steven Bergwijn. Spurs doing the business.
Reports suggest Tottenham’s farewell party for Christian Eriksen will be short-lived and they are gearing up for a welcome party rather. Spurs earlier today made public they have agreed on a deal with PSV Eindhoven for midfielder, Steven Bergwijn.
"Tottenham have agreed a deal with PSV Eindhoven for Netherlands international Steven Bergwijn. Spurs look set to bring in Bergwijn for £25.6m plus add-ons as a replacement for Christian Eriksen, whose transfer to Inter Milan should be concluded on Tuesday.Bergwijn, who made his international debut in October 2018, was kept out of PSV training this week and has been in London to undergo a medical at Tottenham ahead of the transfer being completed. Will Bergwijn be the perfect Eriksen replacement?
Yes, with time we will have to wait to see what he can produce and judging him any sooner before the end of the following season will be considered premature. Filling the boots of a heavyweight such as world-class Christian Erikson will be quite the ask for any player coming into Tottenham. Counting all too much against him, he comes into a Tottenham team Spur-less. That Spur being Harry Kane.
Although, taking his form at PSV Eindhoven into account, and this over last three seasons in the Eredivisie, he has produced goals and assists, reaching double figures in his goal contribution. He also has some European experience.

Eriksen’s numbers of 158 goals and assists in 305 Tottenham colours sounds a far feat to reach. However, with Bergwijn only 22-years-old, he is the perfect longterm replacement for the departed Christian and player to chase that record.
He will have time to reach these numbers. With Heung-Min Son, Dele Alli, and Lucas Moura around him, assists should stack up. In return, this displays Spurs are now are adding options in attack. They’ve already added Gedson Fernandes to the ranks. He is only 21-years-old and further shows their future is in Jose’s hands.
It’s more than safe to say the North London side is investing heavily in Mourinho and time could be on his side to help develop these exciting prospects without worrying to much about the sack. This new-look Jose with a more attacking swag is gaining seep and get more exciting with each signing.
Let’s just hope he doesn’t turn him [Steven Bergwijn] into a Fred and we don’t get to see the Steven Bergwijn from the Dutch Top Flight and played for PSV Eindhoven.
