The easiest decision of the weekend was deciding the best and most entertaining encounter of the Premier League Matchday 23.

Southampton 2-3 Wolves

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s Saints’ reborn could not repeat the form that saw them climb out of the relegation slots. Nonetheless, it wasn’t a poor performance that saw them lose all the points, but rather it was the greater goal of the away team that eclipsed the home side’s performance.

The only five-goal thriller of all the hard-fought battles happening in the league. Wolves did exceptionally well to come back from two goals down and win the fixture 3-2.

The heart and soul were once again at their best. Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez stole the show, as well as all the points from the home side. Ings and co must not walk away from this one sad and mad, but rather glad it took an out-of-this-world performance to stop them while on a hot run.

Crystal Palace 2-2 Man City

This was a tough pick on whether it should be embedded in the best of the weekend or most shocking result. But then I thought back and realised this is nothing new for the man dubbed Roy Hodgson.

The surprise was more that City drew, rather than Palace. The Eagles strived long and hard to keep a one-goal advantage. One of the hardest things to pull off against a ruthless Man City, but not impossible.

The game stayed in their favour for a while but at the stroke of 82 minutes, Sergio Aguero scored the first of what was going be a five-minute brace for the striker. The game flipped on its head and it was the Eagles who needed to chase the game.

They did just that and they succeeded in levelling the score for a second time. This too was one of two games to have three or more goals in it.
