If these weren’t selected to be the most shocking of the weekend, these would have certainly made the cut for best results of the weekend as well. Burnley and Newcastle shook the EPL once again with their individual victories.

Burnley 2-1 Leicester City

Burnley did what they do best, soak up all the pressure and in the final minutes of the game, steal all the points. A Jamie Vardy penalty saved by Nick Pope was punished at the end when Ashley Westwood scored in the 79th minute of the game.

Leicester’s 18 shots at goal amounted to nothing as they now lost their second game in as many, and stands as their fourth loss in their last six outings. Burnley’s season has been one that resembles the kid in the playground who never gets off the see-saw, proceeding to go up and down the entire time.

Thankfully, this is a weekend they can relax and celebrate they stay above the drop zone by five points, after winning their first in their last five Premier League outings.

Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

Steve Bruce‘s Newcastle took a leaf out of Burnley’s book. The Magpies were nowhere to be found for the duration of the 90 minutes but somehow found the first and only goal of the game. This came in the final seconds of stoppage time (93rd minute).

One final set piece was the difference between three points for Lampard and Chelsea, or Bruce and Newcastle. This was a true shocker and a great answer to the sound at St. James Park. This has given Steve and his men a bit of breathing room in this relentless fight for Premier League survival.
