Jurgen Klopp still ending careers after Marco Silva sacking
Liverpool and Everton played out one of the best Merseyside derbies in recent years. So much so it was the ultimate decider for Blues’ manager Marco Silva’s job.
It was a cold night for the weaker team from the Liverpool location. The Reds were again hot inside their beloved Anfield and mostly in control of the entire Merseyside fixture. Five changes were made by the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp which was considered a gutsy move.
He left out two of his first-choice front three players, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. Sadly for Silva, one of the changes made by Klopp was too much for Everton to handle. Divock Origi led the line to perfection and once again was the reason the home side collected all three points.

Two goals by the Belgian, another by the other stand-in player, Xherdan Shaqiri, and the final two by first-team regulars, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum. The five goals received two replies through the likes of Michael Keane and Richarlison from the visitors.
It was not enough for Marco Silva

The quick-fire double was not enough for Silva to keep his job and a day after the beating handed to the Toffees by the Reds, the club from Goodison Park announced the cancellation of the Portuguese as their manager.
It would be way off the mark to say it was a sudden shock and it wasn’t a long time coming for the departure of Marco. It was, in fact, the exact opposite. It was surprising he went out after the likes of Unai Emery and Mauricio Pochettino.
The club across the road waited until they got a wakeup call from Jurgen Klopp and funny enough, Klopp almost comes across as a heartless man who ends his counterparts’ managerial careers.
Klopp doing the business on his end
If Marco Silva had spoken to Jose Mourinho before the game, he’d know Anfield was the wrong place to come and redeem yourself or save your job. On one occasion, Jose the new Spurs manager fell to the sword of Klopp.
Klopp and Jose met each other at Anfield as the Liverpool boss and the Manchester boss. The final score of 3-1 to Liverpool saw him lose his post as the Man United manager after a long run of poor games. Add this with putting Brendan Rodgers out of a job (thanks to the German being available for the Reds’ post) and Klopp can be named the career-ender.
This was exactly the case of Silva before reaching Anfield. Sad news for Marco only. The Reds push on in pursuit of their first Premier League title, as Everton now open up their doors for manager interviews.
Duncan Ferguson will take over as the interim manager when they take on Chelsea at Goodison Park over the weekend in Matchday 16 of the EPL, all while sitting in the relegation zone.
