Fixtures

A few interesting points

  • Watford sits high in the attacking potential but quite low down for defensive potential. There could be some high scoring games at Vicarage Road!
  • Arsenal, Leicester and Man United have a great outlook, but only Aubameyang is a viable option for the Gunners while Man United are really in a crisis!
  • At the other end, things look particularly bad for Palace and Villa. So stay away from them for a few weeks!

Stats

GW8

  • Some cheap options topped the shooting charts with youngster Connolly and Villa’s Wesley on 6 each, followed by El Ghazi (Villa really battered Norwich) and Salah on 5
  • Wesley also had 4 big chances and put 2 of them away
  • Having pointed out Villa’s shot count, the top player for touches in the box in every position was a Norwich player! Stiepermann (12), Pukki (11) and Aarons (8)
  • Ashley Young created more chances (6) than any other player as Man United huffed and puffed against Newcastle, while Rodri and TAA made 5 each

GW3-8

  • Not a lot of change at the top with Salah and Sterling dominating touches in the box (62 and 61, respectively), with the next highest being Son at 48
  • They have each also had 21 goal attempts but here they are beaten by Aguero and Abraham (the Chelsea striker really is looking like this year’s Kane/Vardy cheap star) on 26 and 22, respectively
  • Aguero and Abraham also sit top for shots in the box (23 and 19, respectively) and big chances (9 each, joint with Callum Wilson)
  • If you’re weighing up Salah vs Mane then Salah has had more shots outside the box and more shots in the box than his teammate, but Mane is edging out the big chances (7 vs 6)
  • Some interesting cheaper options at the top of the metrics are Maupay (17 shots but just 2 big chances), Haller (16 shots and 5 big chances) and Wesley (14 shots and 7 big chances)
  • A lot of centre backs dominating the attack metrics for defenders, with Mina and Maguire both joint 2nd for most touches in the box. As well as 1st and 3rd most goal attempts, respectively (this is the most interesting)
  • No prizes for guessing who the top 2 creators in the league are. KDB (26) and TAA (23) are the clear front-runners, with Sigurdsson next at 19
