Man United: Could we see the last of Ole Gunnar after Arsenal and Liverpool encounters
Testing times for club and manager in this cut-throat Premier League. Man United have been underwhelming, to say the least, and due to this, we could very well be seeing the last of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as United’s manager.
An open day beating of a top-six rival set a different tone around the EPL. The first meeting of the big guns on Matchday 1 saw Ole’s men take on newly installed Frank Lampard as Chelsea boss. They flogged the Blues of London back to Stamford Bridge by four goals to zero.
This was short-lived and worryingly for the United board, since then it’s been a rollercoaster ride starting at the tip of the Grand Canyon and ending at the Niagara Falls. A loss to West Ham and two draws to a struggling Wolves side and Southampton.

Another fixture standing out is the loss at Old Trafford to the Eagles. Crystal Palace was supposed to be a walk in the park or a challenge they’d surely collect three points or one from, for the least. Well, they failed miserably to a more determined Palace side.
Making matters even more strenuous on the Red Devils boss is the lack of goals from his United side. They’ve only put eight goals at the back of the net, and four of those was on Matchday 1 against Chelsea. Meaning, they were only able to score another four in the next five meetings.
That’s a dismal start for a club that has spent £480 million on a new attack since the days of Jose Mourinho. The only big achievement was taking three points against Leicester City. This I consider as the biggest upsets of the weekend.
Recent reports say Ole Gunnar’s job is on the line
Word on social media has stated Ole could be the next manager in line to lose his job. The report suggests the Norwegian has the Arsenal game (later this evening at the time of writing this post), and the Liverpool match (coming October 20, three weeks and two Matchdays from now).
The first test in the shape of Arsenal at Old Trafford could be a catalyst to get back to winning ways. Or it could see the first few nails knocked into Ole’s coffin. Here especially United’s performances and results need major improvements. Only six points gathered by Man United after the nine points up for grabs.
Winning more home games would turn the Old Trafford faithful in his favour. His final hurdle, which could also be the last nail slammed into the coffin is the visit from the Reds . Liverpool’s the only Premier League club to go a game without a loss and have already picked up seven wins from the seven games played out.
Last season they lost the fixture at Anfield under Jose Mourinho. The following at Old Trafford they took only a point. One point from the fixture in the last two meetings gives Ole little hope. Although, we all know there is no fixture like a Liverpool and Man United clash. The oldest rivalry in English football. All the odds are basically stacked against the Norwegian.
