On the final day of the 2019 summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur have completed two signings ahead of this weekend’s opening matches.

After several days of rumors surrounding Tottenham’s transfer activity, the club has announced the signings of Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso.

Sessegnon, who joined from now Championship side Fulham, has been linked with Tottenham for quite some time now and has finally made his move from West to North London. The 19-year-old appeared 38 times for Fulham last season, scoring two goals and assisting six.

Joining for a £24.30 million fee, Sessegnon has signed a contract lasting until 2025 and will wear the #19 shirt for the club. Sessegnon can contribute along the entire left side of the field, often playing in the midfield as well as left-back.

Tottenham have also completed the signing of Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. The 23-year-old joins on a season-long loan with the option for a permanent transfer.

Lo Celso joins from Spanish side Real Betis where he had an impressive 2018-19 season. The attacking midfielder contributed nine goals and five assists in his 32 league appearances. Lo Celso also shined in the Europa League last season, scoring five times in Betis’ cup run that ended in the knockout round.

While Tottenham paid a reported £15 million loan fee for Giovani Lo Celso, they could break their club-record transfer fee if they decide to make the transfer permanent. The expected transfer fee for Lo Celso’s services is reportedly £55 million, topping the £54 million they paid for Tanguy Ndombélé earlier this summer.

Giovani Lo Celso will wear the #18 shirt for Spurs, formally held by Fernando Llorente.

This pair of singings come after the rumored move for Juventus star Paulo Dybala was called off.

The Italian giants reportedly accepted a £70 million bid from Tottenham for the Argentine but pulled out of the deal on deadline day.

While fans should be happy with the signings their team have made, it’s hard not to think how well Tottenham would do with the addition of Paulo Dybala.
