From the offset, it was all bad for Spurs. This cast so much doubts in the minds of all, the North London side would not withstand the asking of the 2018-19 UCL.

In the first of their group games, Spurs took a trip to Milan in an effort to welcome back the Italian team to the Champions League. Spurs were in for a rude awaking.

The story of Mauricio’s season was his team being unable to see out a one-goal lead. I Nerazzurri came up with two late goals to secure three points over Tottenham.

Group B

 1st. Barcelona – MP6; W4; D2; L0; GF14; GA5; GD9; 14Points
2nd. Tottenham – MP6; W2; D2; L2; GF9; GA10; GD-1; 8Points
3rd. Inter Milan – MP6; W2; D2; L2; GF6; GA7; GD-1; 8Points
4th. PSV Eindhoven – MP6; W0; D2; L4; GF6; GA13; GD-7; 2Points

The Spurs took the wrong turn right at the start of it all.

What followed set fear of elimination. A hammering by the hands of Barcelona at Wembley. Thereafter, the upset against PSV. It was looking dreary for Pochettino.

Thankfully, round two of the group stages saw the London club push for a strong finish. A win over PSV and Inter in the return legs gave Spurs all the hope and determination to go to the Camp Nou, and steal the most important point of their CL run.

Due to Inter Milan’s failure to win against PSV, Spurs matched their draw and sent themselves through to the Round of 16.
