Man United’s most valuable asset appears to be on his way out of Old Trafford. This comes as no surprise after years of loyal services to the club, but now is the time to move on from England.

On Thursday it was reported stopper and United number one, David de Gea will not renew his contract with the club after a lengthy standoff. This indicates the player will be on the move during the summer transfer window with Real Madrid heavy suitors for the Spaniard.

De Gea’s contract denied was about to make him the highest paid goalkeeper in the world, and would keep him at the club till the day he retired or entered the latter stages of his career. With this being said, it’s safe to say, he has set his sails for greener pastures somewhere else.

United’s final displays were signs for worry

During the English Premier League campaign of 2018-19, United struggled timelessly at the back and the always trustworthy de Gea was not so reliable in between the sticks. The Red Devils conceded a chunky amount of 54 goals this season. The most by any team in the top six.

More from Manchester United

Of those goals, four were conceded via errors by the Spain international, which we were not accustomed to seeing. Arguably, we can’t put all the blame on the man in the poles but rather it was a collective effort by all involved. For years prior to the 2018-19 term, the Manchester club was fortunate to have such a gifted player as a goalkeeper.

Ole’s new look

Sadly for Ole Gunnar, he will have to work on life without one of his most experienced players in the team perhaps. Throughout the world-class stopper’s Premier League career he’s made 275 league appearances while keeping 100 clean sheets. That’s nothing short of amazing!

David has not returned from the World Cup in Russia the same man since the error forced by world great, Christiano Ronaldo in the EURO 2016. Ole will have to work out the best business in order to receive a player close to the class of David de Gea.

Plans have taken a shift now with this sudden shock report.

Clubs interested

It’s no secret of de Gea’s dream of returning home one day to play for Real Madrid. There has always been a big interest shown by Los Blancos for the keeper, and with Zinedine Zidane back at the helm, his dream could become a reality soon than we think.

The other club monitoring the situation is PSG. The French outfit was ready to take de Gea in the previous transfer window but failed when he opted to stay at Old Trafford and sign an extension with the club. They are willing to make him the highest paid goalkeeper in the world, making the offer very persuasive.
