Antoine Griezmann: A massive miss if Man United don’t snatch him up
News broke on Tuesday evening Antonio Griezmann wants out of Atletico Madrid in this summer’s transfer window. Barcelona is said to be the prefered destination.
The French forward and World Cup champ has made it clear to Spanish club Atletico, he wants to part ways and leave Madrid in search of a better chance at silverware, or a new challenge altogether.
Griezmann dismissed a move across to Catalonia during last summer’s window, opting to sign a new deal rather. The new deal was quite a lucrative offer where both parties would benefit financially. Higher wages to recognise their best player and a release clause of £171million (€200m) to fund the team correctly if they were to lose their World Cup winner.

Since the season has concluded this release clause has dropped emphatically. Whoever wants to step in and lure the hitman away will pay a cut-price for him. The amount has decreased to £103m (€120m).
Despite this, teams who want the France international will have to act fast seeing Barcelona are ready to meet Atletico’s asking price and honour the buyout clause. The amount is in the region of £108m (€125m).
Man United must step in
I’m a firm believer that Man United should be searching in other avenues after all their big money purchases have not met the standard of the club. However, signing Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford will kill more than two birds with one.
How this will uplift and benefit the Red Devils?
Firstly, It would surely aid in keeping Paul Pogba at the club and keep him happy at the same time. The next, it could help Pogba’s game pick up drastically. Another change would be the increase in talent on the pitch with him added to the lineup. He would backstroke into the starting 11 with ease and time to spare.

The final and most important plus, it will indefinitely lift the morale at the club, who are experiencing an all-time low. He would install belief Man U are still up there with the other big dawgs. It would cause United’s FT (Football Twitter) to go off the charts.
The fans are looking for a reason to smile and the players are searching deep inside for motivation to improve on last season’s output. It would be great to watch Antoine in the English Premier League.
