Happily, Chris made it possible for an EPL stay after rallying his troops to a strong finish.

They ended their long and gruelling run two points above the drop spot and challengers, Cardiff City. The Seagulls’ early positive start helped them in the long run.

Teams who fought ever so hard for survival were Burnley, Brighton, Southampton and Cardiff City. It was a great achievement, judging this Premier League term was far more competitive than any other.

Brighton’s stats for the season:

Games – 38
Wins – 9
Draws – 9
Losses – 20
Goals scored – 35
Goals conceded – 60

Along with their near plunge to the lower leagues, Chris Hughton gathered pace in the FA Cup, getting the side from Brighton their furthest placing since 1983, by reaching the semifinals of the old English cup.
