Brighton and Chris Hughton are likely to part ways if relegation becomes a reality. Neil Warnock’s Cardiff have two winnable games.

Cardiff have four remaining games, two at home and two on the road. The away fixture at Fulham looks like Cardiff’s best chance to pick up three points. The trip to Craven Cottage precedes the visit of Crystal Palace to South Wales, Cardiff’s final home game of the season. Warnock’s side should get a point from the game, the sides drew 0-0 when they met at Selhurst Park.

It’s difficult to see Cardiff getting anything from the games against Liverpool (h) and Manchester United (a). Four points from their remaining games could see Cardiff securing their Premier League status by a single point.

Sacking Hughton would be harsh, but club chairman and boards have little empathy for failure. Stoke have found life in the Championship difficult. Several Championship teams will be in the hunt for a promotion push next season, including Steve Bruce’s Sheffield Wednesday.

Brighton have one hand on the Premier League and one foot in the Championship. The Seagulls are in control of their own destiny, for now. Relegation is a likely scenario, Hughton’s job is on the line, can he turn Brighton’s fortunes around?
