Man United’s business to keep onto some of their best has been taking longer than anticipated and now develops into a bit of a setback.
Before United’s defeat to Wolves on Tuesday night, reports were milling of Ander Herrera and his hesitation to sign a new deal. The club in return was not ready to give in to the Spaniard’s demands of his new contract.
He was holding out for £200k-per-week. In Man United’s 2-1 win over Watford prior to their Wolves loss, Ander featured with an underwhelming performance. The Old Trafford side was not in full control of the game and Herrera aided to this.
After the Hornets clash, more reports surfaced and it was said the midfielder has agreed on terms with PSG to move over in the summer when his contract expires. The Parisians are in need of a new midfielder after news of their outcast, Adrien Rabiot leaving to join Real Madrid.
Both players are reported to have pre-agreements in place and are free agents in the summer. Strange to see Real Madrid and PSG do business where they not breaking the transfer record.
Factors that gave the transfer away
Besides the uncertainty in re-signing, the drop in form and holding the Manchester club ransom were the first two signs. Then he was excluded from the side in a crucial must-win fixture. A fixture that assisted in their hunt for a top-four finish.
They went with a midfield that consisted of Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Fred. Two of those names would surely have sat out for Herrera in such a meaningful event.
The final straw came when Man United tweeted about Scott McTominay, “Scott has never ever let us down. It won’t be hard to see him playing many, many games for United.” This proved Ole was in the process of getting used to life without the midfielder, Ander.

Reports are still not solid
Sky Sports and other reporters are the ones sure the Spaniard will join PSG next summer. BBC reported the same story, but have since taken back their first statement and feel there’s not enough to confirm the move is on.
BBC’s reports on the move:
"Unable to verify these claims with the club or the player. Information about Ander Herrera‘s agreement with PSG comes from “one source”."
United have a lot of replacing to do as it is. This just adds to the long list of positions they already need filling in.
