The busy period for Saturday is where most of the comeback kings came to life. The result of the day and weekend has to go to Southampton, who knocked Spurs down for three points.

Southampton 2-1 Tottenham (Biggest upset of the weekend)

The Saints pulled off the biggest hail mary play of all time. A game where all odds were stacked against them, they turned it on its head and took advantage of a team on a low in their domestic campaign.

Tottenham registered 16 shots at goal with only five on target. Through this, they acted first as predicted when they went up through Harry Kane, and it looked as if it would stay that way as no goals were scored until the 76th minute of the second half, even though they peppered the home side’s goalmouth for the majority of the match. This is where Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men turned the game on its head. Two goals late in the game by Yan Valery and James Ward-Prowse scored five minutes apart from each other sealed the fate for Spurs.

This was enough to take all the points from Spurs and keep Southampton out of the danger zone for another week. Spurs can forget about any late title fight as they fall way behind the top two. However, the worry of their rivals Arsenal or Man United taking their third-place spot has come into effect. The former sits one point behind them and the latter two points adrift.

Huddersfield 0-2 Bournemouth

Eddie Howe’s men put in a solid performance to bounce back from the horror show they’ve put on over the last six outings. Callum Wilson returned to terrorise the Terriers once again when he scored first for the visitors. Seven goals in six games he’s played against Huddersfield after this one.

Ryan Fraser slotted in the second and final goal of the game when Wilson returned the favour and supplied him with his first of the game. Two goals in either half of the game were enough to see the Cherries claim their first three points in six outings.

They shoot back up the chute into 12th place, equal on points with Everton but only behind on goal difference. Huddersfield’s feet are already touching the surface in the Championship with 14 points in last place on the English Premier League table.
