English Premier League: The weekend of the comeback kings
Not your average weekend of football as we witnessed some of the best comebacks in the English Premier League this term.
There were loads of goals and only one game saw the odds even and the points shared when the final whistle went off the final game on the final day of Matchday 30, in the English Premier League.
There was a boatload of 33 goals scored over the weekend with only two teams coming up blank or their opponents were able to keep a clean sheet. Bournemouth and Cardiff City were those two teams to keep their goalmouth clean of anything conceded.
Here is a quick rundown of Matchday 30 and how all the Premier League clubs sit after an eventful weekend of football.
Crystal Palace 1-2 Brighton
The Seagulls find their feet at the right time after an extremely poor run of games. Brighton sat two points above the drop afore and now have reversed their fate with a hard-fought rivalry match between them and familiar adversaries Crystal Palace.
Chris Hughton’s Brighton side went up in fantastic style when Glen Murray took his first touch of the game and turned it into a goal in the 19th minute of the first half. It was a strike taken out of Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo‘s book. This was cancelled when Luka Milivojević put away Palace’s only goal of the game. The home side scored no goals from open play, showing how well the Seagulls did inside Selhurst Park.
On came a sub and a man who knows exactly what the Palace and Brighton rivalry is about. Just introduced into the game, Anthony Knockaert put his mark on it with a sublime goal to end all hope for Crystal Palace.
Roy Hodgson can’t get his Palace side to stop this inconsistent run and place themselves in 14th place on 33 points, five points from peril. Brighton’s double over Palace puts them behind their rivals in 15th place, while on the same amount of points.
