FA Cup: Chelsea vs. Man United in fifth-round tie – Man United seek revenge

United have improved under interim head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, losing one game in 10, a defeat that came at the hands of PSG in the Champions League. Solskjaer seems to be enjoying his return to Old Trafford, with his pragmatic approach to results. Solskjaer gave the United players a positive message after their midweek defeat.

They were experienced, they bought some fouls – things like this, this is just part of their learning as players. Many of our players are very young. A fourth-round trip to the Emirates did not phase United, who ran out 3-1 winners with two quick first-half goals from Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard. Anthony Martial put the game beyond Arsenal with his 82nd-minute strike, after Paul Pogba‘s parried shot fell to the United No.11.

Stamford Bridge has been United’s kryptonite in recent times, they have won just two of their last 22 away games against Chelsea there.

Team news: Chris Smalling could be included in the matchday squad after recovering from a broken toe. Lingard and Martial are out for the trip to Stamford Bridge, both players picked up injuries in the midweek defeat against PSG. Sergio Romero is expected to start in goal.

Martial shone when the sides met in a 2-2 draw in October. Ross Barkley spared the Blues’ defeat with an injury-time equaliser. Chelsea is in the hunt for a domestic cup double. United seek revenge for last season’s FA Cup final defeat. The Red Devils still have hopes of winning silverware in 2019. Monday night’s fixture could be a cracking game of football.
