Chelsea’s Victor Moses bids the Bridge farewell for Fenerbahce
Out of favour Victor Moses crossed the Bridge and heads to the lands of Turkey after completing a loan move to Fenerbahce.
One of the many players to fall victim to the Sarri era. We’ve seen a number of Blues who’s lifted the title part separate ways from the club. The African full back, winger, forward, midfielder is on his way out of the club that he’s been at since 2012/2013.
He arrived at the club when he was 21-years-old and we all know that’s a dangerous age to be at a club like Chelsea. Infamous for loaning their youth out like pawn pieces in a cheese game, it’s extremely rare for a player to come through the ranks or break into the first team as a young 20-year-old so.
In his time from 2012, Moses enjoyed a number of loan spells around England. Wigan, the club Chelsea bought him from, received the Nigerian for a season long. Then he joined Rodgers at Liverpool, having a 50/50 season at Anfield. After that, he joined Stoke City and formed part of a then, exciting Mark Hughes’ Stoke team.
His last spell was as a Hammer, it was also the most terrifying times to be West Londoners. It wasn’t fruitful but he made a name for himself in the time there. It’s safe to say, Moses became a fan favourite wherever he set up home.
His best times were under Antonio Conte
Before the sacking of ex-Chelsea manager and predecessor, Antonio Conte, the Nigerian was moulded into the starting 11 as one of the main pieces. He featured 66 times in both European and Premier League action. In the Italian’s maiden campaign, Moses was ever-present in their title-winning charges.
He scored a weak number of three and assisted a measly number of two in the EPL. Not the best return, setting doubt in most of the Chelsea supporters’ minds, is he worth the spot on the field or the bench?
After the inclusion of the new boss, Maurizio Sarri, Moses has been limited to fewer chances on the pitch. He’s only made two appearances coming off from the bench this season in the league campaign.
It was definitely time to move on. He will join the Turkish bullies for an 18-month long loan spell, keeping him there till the summer of 2020.
