The Spanish International has been linked to French Giants PSG with a move that can potentially see a wage of 300,000 pounds a week.
According to ESPN, the Parisians are willing to make David De Gea the highest paid goalkeeper in the world. In the process it seems as though they would have to let go of Brazilian superstar Neymar in order to avoid Financial Fair play sanctions. After this season, De Gea will be due for a new contract but as time passes a move out from Old Trafford seems more likely.
As United continue to struggle in the Premier League, it seems as though Mourinho’s time is running out. After another poor performance by United yesterday, questions are being asked about Mourinho’s abilities. He seems to be keen on replacing De Gea with English keeper Jordan Pickford.

If PSG are able to land De Gea, this would mean that the ageing Buffon would be at the end of his contract, and struggling Areola would be benched. It’s no secret that PSG are weak defensively and lack a reliable, consistent goalkeeper. De Gea brings all the qualities necessary to the Parc De Princes, and rounds off a brilliant starting 11.
This would obviously be a major blow to the Red Devils as De Gea has developed with the club. On PSG’s end of the deal, I don’t think risking the loss of Neymar for De Gea would be smart. Building around Neymar and Mbappe would make it easier for PSG to find a formation that works and a midfield that complements the defense.
Instead it looks as though PSG want to build around Mbappe and grab a starting keeper. I still think Mbappe is really young, and should work alongside Neymar and Cavani as they’ve been doing.
Loosing Neymar would mean loosing a threat in attack that is widely known as arguably the best in the world. It seems as though every time the Parisians purchase, they go big, and that’s not always the smartest plan so settling for a cheaper goalkeeper wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
