Week 9 was the lowest scoring week for a long time, with the average only reaching 39! It was an odd week in many ways, not least because Cardiff managed to score 4 goals.

The average number of points in the whole game exceeded the average of the top 100k and the top 1k, which is a very rare event indeed and showed how the reemergence of players like Aubameyang, Mahrez and Salah (probably the centre to a few teams already forgotten by their manager) can affect the game as a whole.

This week, after the usual fretting over key players’ involvement in Champions League or Europa League, we hope FPL will get back on track. The signs are good as Liverpool host Cardiff and Chelsea travel to Burnley, giving opportunities to both Hazard and Salah to shine.

The biggest match up of the weekend is on Monday night as Man City travel to London to face Spurs. Last year Poch’s side were undone by City in both matches, and it won’t help that Guardiola was able to rest key players during their trip to Donetsk on Tuesday night. All this while Spurs continued to fight hard for their Champions League future.
