Leicester City: Ben Chilwell’s new contract reps great business by the Foxes
Claude Peul and his backroom staff doing some good business in securing their star first team players, in a time where they fight for European football.
It was almost the perfect week for Leicester City and Ben Chilwell. The Foxes enjoyed, okay didn’t enjoy the final fixture of Matchday 9 – when they went down 3-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates. It was the 12th away loss endured by the Foxes to the Gunners.
One of the standout performers in last night’s clash was the left back. Before Arsenal went on to win the game, yes. But Chilwell conjured up a fantastic solo run and deflected an own goal off Gunners’ fullback, Hector Bellerin.
It was the only goal by Leicester and should have been the catalyst to them taking a point or even three, perhaps. Arsenal went on to eventually show their quality up front and finished the game off, comprehensively.

But it was before the match kicked off, that the club brought the fans some exciting news of a club favourite signing a new contract. Ben was a top prospect and was part of Claudio Ranieri’s Premier League winning team.
After breaking through on The Top Flight scene, many of the top teams came knocking. Most notably was Merseyside outfit, Liverpool, who was frantically in search of better fullbacks. Thankfully for the Foxes, he was one that stayed beyond what will be their best season ever played.

They have an easy run of games
This contract extension comes at the perfect time. Leicester City has a smoother run of fixtures from now running through till the month of December when they meet Tottenham.
He has the experience needed for any top flight team. He is a leader in the dressing room and a leader on the pitch. He has also formed a special bond with Premier League debuting, James Maddison. Monday he repaid the club with some impressive attacking and was the only one to penetrate Arsenal’s defence.
So to say he’s an asset begins to describe the left back with a deadly left foot. Once the paperwork is out the way, the footballing gets back to being second nature to these footballers. He will now stay at the club till 2024, keeping him there for another six years. That’s a lifetime contract, for a loyal Fox.
