Matches to watch during the October international break
By Orri Benatar
Spain vs. England
When – 2:45 pm EST on Monday, Oct. 15
Where – Benito Villamarin – Seville (ESPN+)
It’s England turn to play two Nations League games during one break. The Three Lions will go from Croatia to Seville to play Spain in the first rematch of Group 4. Spain was able to defeat England at Wembley and only need one point to practically clinch safety for the next UNL. A win for Luis Enrique and La Furia Roja might put them in the final four.
France vs. Germany
When – 2:45 pm EST on Tuesday, Oct. 16
Where – Stade de France – Saint-Denis (ESPN+)
These two teams began the Nations League over a month ago with a 0-0 draw in Germany. One month later and France will have a rematch against Germany at the Stade de France. It is the first time these two teams are playing against each other in France in three years. A majority of the players will have memories of the terrifying night of November 13th, 2015 when explosions from the Paris attacks were heard during the match.
Brazil vs. Argentina
When – 1:00 pm EST on Tuesday, Oct. 16
Where – King Abdullah Sports City – Jeddah, KSA
The Brasil Global Series will continue next Tuesday when the Selecao faces their greatest rivals Argentina at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Both nations are in need of a desperate bounceback after a disappointing World Cup where both sides fell short of their targets for the tournament. It’s the first competitive meeting since CONMEBOL qualifying. A 3-0 Brazil win lurks in the memory of La Albiceleste.
