Buildup play hasn’t always won games or always been successful in achieving goals. We’ve seen it fail before, we saw it fail again with no direct play going forward.

Let’s start this one-off with a long-standing opinion about Liverpool’s midfield. Who for the first time this season, didn’t play with in a game. Naples was a prime example of the lack of creativity in some cases. Or, rather even flair.

Too many side-to-side passes and less penetration, creates pressure in the wrong areas. And as useful as Henderson is, he doesn’t give enough forward passes. Direct play a distance thought because of this.

This has to change for some different type of spark to happen. This is where I stand firm on my opinion and say… Liverpool should have signed a proper number 10. Nabil Fakir’s performances speaks for themselves. If not him, an alternative option.
