How far is too far? How low is too low? It’s been a terrible season for José Mourinho and his Manchester United side.
Who would imagine 10 years ago that Manchester United would be 10th place in the standings now? An outdated manager is what José Mourinho would be called, is it not? However, it looks like the game changed for both sides as West Ham literally hammered the Red Devils at London Stadium this past Saturday.
According to OptaJoe, since 1989/90 United picked up fewer points from their opening seven games of a top-flight season. That’s almost 30 years ago. Cause for concerns as United really hasn’t recovered from losing Sir Alex Ferguson.
It’s been far from a joy for anybody to watch in, who is of United colours and the Manchester faithful. A real powerhouse suffering and not adapting well to life after Fergie’s success and have lost what once was… “The Manchester Way”.
Will Mourinho endure more pain or joy at Old Trafford?

That’s a difficult question to answer. Almost any pundits in the world have said that his time at Manchester has gone. Nevertheless, perhaps the team lost their self-confidence to win their matches cause of not buying into the trophy-laden manager’s philosophy. Plus, the bad relationship with Paul Pogba and other players as it is frequently stated by the press, proves maybe change could be right.
We shouldn’t say that his time is gone because we don’t know what’s happening in the backgrounds. He, or the hierarchy, along with many other reasons could stand as the source to United’s decline. That, or all are contributing to lack of consistent performances.
Nothing new to see when we talk Jose. Since 2012, Mourinho has had a lot of problems with players in three different clubs.
Firstly, when he was the Real Madrid manager, the media reported that he had a problem with Cristiano Ronaldo. Secondly, he got some perplexity when managing the squad on his return at Stamford Bridge, but only in his follow-up campaign, after winning it. And now finally, we are seeing the same news at United.
If problems persist, Mourinho has to change his behaviour. He must turn out these last episodes and return to being one of the top-5 coaches in the world. The better word to use is reinventing himself.
