The team favourites to take points is the home side Southampton. But it could be tricky seeing that certain players could be missing from selection.

Mark Hughes could be found without two options at the tip of his attack. Both, Charlie Austin and Shane Long are doubtful for the clash and could see Danny Ings operate alone at the tip of the attack, as reported by BBC.

Southampton has seen some success and more goals when deploying two up front. Since using it in the Premier League, they’ve only failed to score in one fixture. The same record Ings holds since returning home and starting for his side. He’s been great to Hughes, forcing himself into the team and scoring in consecutive fixtures.

Not sure if it would be a wise move to use your only two strikers available (Ings and Gabbiadini) at the same time, with the uncertainty over the other two forwards for this evening. Taking the two’s form since the campaign kicked off, Ings is your go to guy and should start ahead of Gabbiadini.

If either of the other two do make the squad, two up front is good possibility. Goals will be sure to come. Austin was the player to score the only goal in their cup meeting. Maybe he and Ings could be the pair up front.
