Watford’s man driving his team to their best start in the English Premier League, rightfully takes the Manager of the Month accolade.
The normal English Premier League discussion, when discussing with the best in the league regularly surrounds names like, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, United. However, move four weeks on and there’s one team forcing themselves into the discussion when talking the best four teams at the start of the season.
It was always expected for Man City, Liverpool, and Spurs to take the top spots at the start of the campaign. But the fact Watford hold onto third place over Manchester City, United, Arsenal, and Spurs, makes their run one of the best – with nothing suggesting it’s coming to an end anytime soon.

The winning start
Besides playing games, which to the Hornets were must win matches, Gracia’s men also took teams down teams where they were the least favourites. Their first match was against Brighton, another team that brought a shocking result in the early stages of the campaign, when they took three points away from United.
They were both good for the three points, however, Javi had all the aces and came out tops.
Their second victory was against a side who defensively were very sound before the season got underway. They proved Burnley’s defence was far from what it was last season and scored three goals past them.

The third was an entertaining fixture, that saw them claim the best goal of Matchday 3. A meant to be cross or shot, who knows… Was the best of the weekend by Jose Holebas. This was a goal worthy of three points, in what was also probably the most entertaining of the day.
Move a week on and the Hornets had their toughest matchup of the season, Spurs. The team also favourites heading into the match. Spurs were outdone and lost the clash by two goals to one. Amazing scenes at Vicarage Road.
This, plus their Football League Cup victory, makes them unbeaten for the season. That’s nothing short of amazing from the Spanish Manager, who took over at a testing time last season. We can even go on in saying how surprised it is to see him at the club knowing Watford’s policy to change managers each season.
