Arsenal 3-1 West Ham

Arsenal finally got their first win of the season as they defeated West Ham. While the 3-1 scoreline seems like an emphatic victory for Arsenal, the team was shaky at times. West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic had the first goal of the game, his second of the season. Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal found the back of the net five minutes later. Both sides got plenty of shots off with their defenses looking a bit weak.

The turning point was when West Ham defender Issa Diop scored an own goal. This allowed for Arsenal to pump the breaks a bit and work on getting up the pitch on their time. Eventually, Danny Welbeck scored in extra time to ice the game. Still, in the last 20 minutes of the match, West Ham continued to threaten with counter attacks. This ensured that Arsenal had to stay alert until the final whistle to get a good result.
