Man City’s newest goalkeeper was a key piece in the title-winning season. Ederson proved to be a Premier League caliber goalie.

With the decline of Joe Hart, Ederson was the perfect person for Pep Guardiola’s vision of Manchester City. Pep’s vision has been realized with a depth of young players who can play with the best of them now and have room to become even better. Ederson defines that perfectly in the goalkeeping position.

The 24-year old Brazilian has 14 clean sheets this season, second to David de Gea’s 17. While Ederson rarely has to make six to seven saves a game, he has had those moments in big games where his saves are the difference between winning and drawing. Man City needed a goalkeeper and they got the perfect one. Ederson’s season should be enough to be a starter for Brazil at the World Cup.

Goalies rarely win these awards and this year is no exception. For a goalie to win an award in a category with attackers, he would need to have around 25 clean sheets and concede maybe 10 goals all season. Ederson did not do that. Most goalies in the world can’t do that. I do put Ederson higher than Rashford since he had more season changing moments.
