A talking point taking social media by storm, Lukaku’s celebration-less goal for the second week running after making it two goals in two games.
Many believe it to be a waste of time and debate to be analyzing something so futile. It will continue to have a 50/50 split over whether or not – Lukaku has a right to celebrate, by not celebrating.
After such a controversial moment on the last Matchday of the first half of the season, pundits and fans, showed they were either baffled, or they were in favour of a player, whose price tag has made him a hitman for the press.
How it got to this point:
Lukaku, before the season started, became United’s most expensive signing in history at £100 million. This, plus his time at other clubs ahead of the Devil’s move, set doubt amongst the masses in football.
Why? Because of him being unable to fire in goals when challenging one of the top-six clubs. What counted in his favour, was his ability to reach the top two, top three, of the Premier League top scorers in consecutive seasons.
Besides Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero, Lukaku’s arguably one of the best striker in the league and deserved his move to a bigger club than Everton. The big Belgian had a healthy start to life in a United sweater. He managed to score on his debut and has already reached 14 goals for the season. During the first 18 games, Lukaku went on a bit of a goal drought in the Premier League.
This is where the debate about his big match temperament came under a lot of scrutiny. Missing in all United’s top battles, brought many questions over his enormous price tag. Was he worth all the fuss and was it a waste of valuable transfer kitty?

How the manager dealt with the silly debate:
At the end of United’s victory over West Brom (1-2) on Sunday afternoon, the manager was asked about whether he felt it was a problem or not, that his leading striker was not celebrating the couple of goals scored in as many games.
The manager was on top of things and backed his £100 million transfer and made it clear, it’s not as bad as many makes it out to be.
Mourinho’s words about his striker after the match [Taken from The Express]:
"“I didn’t celebrate too.“Nobody was happier than me.“Fifteen years ago I look at myself celebrating goals. With maturity you go into levels that you control your emotions better.“Romelu was a happy kid at West Brom – maybe at the back of the mind it was his love for the club.”"
To conclude the celebration saga:
For this game, understandable why he didn’t celebrate, because of it being West Brom. However, why was he so eager to celebrate against Everton when they beat them earlier on in the campaign?
This contradicts the manager’s words when you think about the two games and the difference in celebration. What adds the bizarre reply, was the fact he didn’t celebrate in the game before when they played a team, he has no history with, Bournemouth.
This makes it hard to understand the manager’s words. If it happens again, does it then only become a problem? Another question to be asked … will he celebrate when his Manchester team travels to Goodison Park?
