Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be a Liverpool player after the two clubs reached an agreement earlier today. This after giving champions Chelsea a miss.

A few days back and Chamberlain looked set to be a Chelsea player. Rumours always suggested the player wasn’t entirely happy to make the move and was holding out for a move he wanted rather.

This move was him heading over to Anfield and wanting to work with manager Klopp, with the Red’s manager also being a great admirer of the Englishman. When Harry met Sally type of vibes.

Days after rejecting the Londoners offer which saw the Gunners receive more for Ox, he made it clear where it is he wanted to be.

A key ingredient missing in Klopp’s underwhelming season [2016/2017], was depth. Not being able to make up and close gaps for players lost to injuries and suspensions were the German’s biggest downfall.

Now with the new campaign underway, the club and manager were looking to add to their already strong team.

Eleven players plus about two or three, were able to push hard for Liverpool but just one run of allotted injuries costed the manager a healthy spot leading to the end of the league last term.

Klopp was not oblivious to this and has started adding quality players to his squad. Liverpool were a winger short, a defender shy, and a midfielder light when things went salty for the club.

Now they seem to have been adding in the areas where players were missing so badly last campaign. Salah was chosen as the winger needed by the club and now we see Chamberlain come and slot into the shallow midfield.

Next should and has to be a defender, otherwise LFC can count this window as incomplete.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain deal to Liverpool:

Melissa Reddy, always “reddy” to break important news to the Liverpool public. Reported earlier today, the Gunners and the Reds have finally come to an agreement for the English born player.

The deal is said to be £35 millions, which is £5 million less than what Chelsea were offering.

The player has agreed to join on a five-year deal with his medical set to take place at St. James Park ahead of his move to LFC. In every way this deal is a great one for Liverpool.

He adds quality in numbers, his only 24 years of age and offers a number of positions he could possibly fit into when needed. On the wing, down the middle in the centre of the park, or even as a winger back, in his newly found role. One I don’t think the player was too happy about.

The competition for a spot in the starting lineup has become ever so healthy with his inclusion. This will help the Reds push on for some needed silverware.

Most of all, it’s been a long time since Liverpool bested their counterparts when coming to transfers. Picking Liverpool over Chelsea, is massive statement by the player. He should thrive under Klopp and can actually push on to try and force his way into the side as a first team regular.
