When 25-year old Ghanian forward Andre Ayew joined Swansea City this summer on a free transfer, many believed that the deal made sense for both the player and the Welsh based club.

Following the loss of Wilfried Bony during last January’s transfer window, Swansea City began to suffer in the attack. Without their leading goalscorer, Swansea City could not do much more than limp home to an eighth place finish.

Even with Bafétimbi Gomis remaining with the club, Swansea City and Garry Monk were in desperate need of improvement. The arrival of Andre Ayew should prove to be a major boost to the Swans.

With European Qualification in it’s sights, Swansea City will be treasuring the expected partnership between Ayew and Gomis. If the two African strikers can add some quality to the Swans attack next season, a top seven finish may not be out of the question for the Premier League’s only Welsh based club.
