2. Diego Costa

The bullish Spaniard lead the Chelsea attack from day one and has been firing on all cylinders since the day his feet touched England. He adapted to the English game with such ease as if he played in the Premier League all his life. After the Torres fiasco, Chelsea needed a striker who can score a good number of goals and also score in tight games where one goal can all make the difference.

Mourinho brought in the perfect candidate and he has been rewarded graciously with 19 goals which went a long way to securing the title with such a huge point margin. Costa has been the go to striker where with his brute strength, he can hold up the ball well and bring others into play and due to agility he can run at the defense causing havoc. He brings with him a fighting spirit which was lacking in the team, a player who can get in the faces of opponents and create tension in the opposition half.

Costa’s disciplinary conduct can be a major reason for him not getting this award, but if judged by performance, he will definitely be a strong contender.
