Edinson Cavani The Enemy Of Parc des Princes Against Rennes
After being jeered off by fans at the Parc des Princes, Edinson Cavani has a lot of explaining to do. Unfortunately for El Matador, there is little explaining to be done when a performance as poor as his offers all answers.
The number nine was impaired in front of goal Friday against Stade Rennes where Les Parisians claimed a 1-0 victory. Yet I don’t necessarily think the jeering from the expectant Paris St Germain fans was necessarily merited. But at the same time, the Uruguayan international was not playing to his full potential.

It is clear that the club has an enormous vault of expectation to fill, especially with the talent they crop– this applies greater justification for Cavani’s negative overflow. In the match, the Uruguayan hardly covered the ground he normally finesses, as well had a terribly narrow miss in the second half which was virtually his only chance of the match.
Soon after, Cavani was substituted for Lucas Moura and walked off the pitch to a chorus of boos. Fortunately and unfortunately, Adrien Rabiot suffered the same ordeal as Cavani, but in fairness has much less responsibility.
Les Parisians must begin to rebuild their champions spirit in time for the return of Champions League football. According to Laurent Blanc, Cavani did not do enough in Paris’ Friday match. His comments are as follows via Goal.com.
"“I had an exchange with Cavani. I had the same with Adrien Rabiot. It is a little personal, but I told him I found what he did to be insufficient and that is why I made the decision to take him off. Today their relationship [Cavani and Ibrahimovic] was not good. This is one of the reasons I took Edi off. I thought I had an advantage on the bench with Lucas and that he would have space.”"
Blanc had also recently commented on how important the partnership between his two front-men is. As well his ongoing nourishment of the two and their understanding of one another on the pitch to equalize chemistry.
It was clear his conversation prior to match did not sink in a great deal, as Zlatan continued to float deep in the midfield and create, while Cavani found it difficult to stay central.
Blanc had also commented on the power of the squad, recognizing that the club has a bounty of pressure, but also cannot aim to please at their full potential on a consistent basis. His excuses are one again fair, but for a coach of such aggressive stature, “crushing opponents”should certainly be the case.
"“We would have liked a much bigger victory. Offensively, we expect much more. The fans think we will crush opponents and that each game will be like that. We would also like this type of game, but it’s not the case. Collectively and individually, it was not as good as Saint-Etienne. But given the timing, we can’t all play with the same team. They say PSG are not convincing but we are one point behind Lyon before they go to Monaco. We are still there, even without playing well.”(Goal.com)"
