With the Qatari winter tour inserted into Paris St Germain’s break before Ligue 1 resumes, Laurent Blanc has tasted some sour tidings instead of outstanding improvements. During the clubs trip to Morocco where they played and came out victorious in a drab 1-0 win to Inter Milan, Paris were without Uruguayan Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi’s presence.

Allegedly according to 1970PSG.com, Lavezzi remained in South America to handle personal issues, yet his Uruguayan counter part’s situation has a much more vague reasoning that is yet to be determined. With rumours heavily circulating of the two ready to depart from Paris in definitely, their a scenes may be a gentle warning of distaste for Paris’ slump in form at the beginning of the season and loss of interest to regain glory at Paris.

To further the embarrassment of the club, both men were also missing in action Friday morning for training at the Camp des Loges, once again fuelling the idea that the two are seeking outlets. In the twos absence in Morocco, naturally Blanc was flooded with questions of speculation, leaving him to provide an ambiguous answer, yet also one which firmly confirms that tensions are high as reported by BangkokPost.com:

"‘They’ll arrive on (January) 2 in the morning in Paris. We’ll expect some explanation, and then we’ll make sporting decisions as a club”"

Blanc is referring to the punishment the two will have to adhere to in order to be penalized for their no show, but also their commitment to the club. This form of embarrassment for PSG is the kind that exposes the petty cracks in relationships, loyalty and tensions that could be hindering a big exit for each man– but at what cost will it be for Paris?

Losing Edinson Cavani would surely be detrimental for Les Parisens specifically because of Zlatan’s unpredictable form in between injuries. The talisman has been handed very inconsistent playing time in 2014 because of his battle with a hamstring injury last April and a heel injury ( the worst of the two) , this past fall. Since coming back from a 7 week lay off, the Swede has been barely at his best, often times looking to outshine Cavani. The Uruguayan has also had difficulty playing the part he wants to naturally and that is centre forward. With two big talents fighting for their preferred place, it isn’t hard to see that Zlatan will win that battle everytime.

But the truth remains, his ability to continue playing and starting healthily for 2-3 games per week is slim. This leaves big pressure on Edinson Cavani who either accepts his role or doesn’t– and with clear distaste of playing second fiddle, he does not. If the rumours of his move to Arsenal are true, the club will cash in on a €40-€60 million transfer, but will also lose an important segment to their reliable attack. The same goes for Lavezzi, who recently has been under serious scrutiny and is in starting line up less and less.

The Argentine has been linked to Liverpool and Inter Milan, but no real evidence brand the rumours true. What is for certain is whether it is too costly to keep him or let him go. On one hand Paris have an extremely hard working and fast paced winger who spends most of his time on the pitch stirring conflict on the wings. He more than often, is creating chances for the centre forwards instead of utilizing them for himself, which is noble. But his confidence in front of goal has been poor holding only 2 goals in Ligue 1 and 2 assists in all competitions so far this season.

It could be argued that the 29 year old hasn’t had a worthy chance this season, but with his price tag and wages among the highest in the club, these sort of numbers are unacceptable. It is hard to say what will come of both men as the January transfer window continues to flourish new rumours and speculation, but one thing is certain, the internal attitude of the club is surely flawed seeing as an embarrassing no show from two top names is unheard of.
