Was this a sign of things to come at Stamford Bridge this season? James certainly thinks so

JAMES SUTHERLAND

League Champion – Chelsea; The Blues’ additions via the transfer market surely have strengthened them to the point where their only competition for the league trophy is Manchester City.  Their preference for shoring up the defense this summer with the acquisition of Felipe Luis, and keeping Kurt Zouma on the books rather than pushing him out on lead means that Jose Mourinho did not give himself a selection headache in the attack – the continued chemistry in Chelsea’s forward players without further additions this summer mean they’re the favorites for me.

Top Seven – Chelsea, Manchester City, Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Crystal Palace (yes, I like the improbable!)

Relegation – Burnley, Leicester City, West Ham

Top Goalscorer – Sergio Aguero; When he is healthy, he is absolutely clinical.  He will do better on the road than so many other strikers in the Premier League, who usually are far more consistent on more familiar ground.  If the injury bug does not bite him again this season, he could well hit 30 goals for City.

Young Player of the Season – Well, I mean, you’ve heard everyone else who has picked him; my reasons remain the same as the rest.  He is brilliant, he’s only going to get better this season and he continues to grow in confidence and ability.  Liverpool have a real superstar in the making when it comes to him, and rumors of Real Madrid being interested in him only confirm that.
