Tottenham are unbeaten in five meetings with Manchester United, most recently enjoying a longer streak between 1914 and 1921. Spurs seek a third successive victory in this fixture for the first time since 1990.

Man United have lost their last two visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, winning only three of their last 13 clashes with Spurs at one of the various homes.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Preview

Here's a stat for you: if these two teams combined points tallies, they'd still be behind run-away league leaders Liverpool.

These are certainly the two most discussed teams in the Premier League this season, and rightly so. Few could've forecast that, with just 14 games to go, the pair would be down in 13th and 14th, making this heavyweight clash, in the marquee Sunday afternoon slot, both largely inconsequential but simultaneously fascinating.

Of the pair, it is Manchester United who kick off just two points better off, probably in slightly better spirits. Last Friday night, the Red Devils reached the FA Cup fifth round, thanks to an unconvincing come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Leicester.

Joshua Zirkzee equalised, following some good work by Alejandro Garnacho, before Harry Maguire headed home a vintage Old Trafford winner. Maguire's winner was allowed to stand in a VARless world despite the fact he was offside.

Back in the Premier League, Rúben Amorim's team were beaten by Crystal Palace a fortnight ago, meaning they've lost seven of their last 11, including five of the last six at home. They are unable to build any semblance of momentum, underlined by the fact the Red Devils are yet to win back-to-back league games all season.

Tottenham Hotspur have just endured a very damaging week, dumped out of both domestic cup competitions, hammered 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield in the EFL Cup semi-finals. They were then outplayed by Aston Villa in the FA Cup, the 2-1 scoreline making the tie appear closer than it was.

Spurs beat Brentford a fortnight ago, ending a four-match losing streak in the Premier League, with this only their second league victory in 12, it did little to quell the furious support.

In truth, all that is keeping Ange Postecoglou in a job is the hope that he can deliver silverware, but the Europa League is now Tottenham's sole hope of achieving this, set to find out their round of 16 opponents next Friday.

The Lilywhites have already beaten Man United twice this season, hammering them 3-0 at Old Trafford in September before a thrilling 4-3 League Cup victory just before Christmas. The pair could meet again in the Europa League Final on 21 May, given they're on opposite sides of the draw.

A lot would need to happen between now and then, but which fan base will have a morale-boosting, much-needed victory to celebrate in North London on Sunday?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Head-to-Head Record

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Spurs have just enjoyed a week without a fixture for the first time since the November international break, with Ange Postecoglou therefore hoping his side will be recharged and potentially reinforced

Destiny Udogie, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Richarlison are all in contention to return soon. Meanwhile, Guglielmo Vicario, Radu Drăgușin, Cristian Romero, Timo Werner, Wilson Odobert and Dominic Solanke are sidelined longer-term.

There's still no news on Micky van de Ven's whereabouts, having not been seen since getting 45 minutes into his legs against Elfsborg more than a fortnight ago.

January arrivals Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel will make their Premier League debuts for the club, having been thrust into action in the cups. Yves Bissouma or Pape Matar Sarr could return at the base of midfield, compared to the team beaten at Villa Park.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Manchester United: (4-2-3-1): Kinský; Porro, Gray, Danso, Spence; Bissouma, Bentancur, Bergvall: Kuluševski, Son Heung-min, Tel.

Tottenham Hotspur Players to Watch vs Manchester United

Dejan Kuluševski has nine goals to his name this season, on target during both victories over Manchester United, so can he find the net against them once again?

Manchester United Team News

Rúben Amorim's team have similarly had nine days on the training ground ahead of this clash in the capital. They'll travel without Lisandro Martínez, Jonny Evans, Luke Shaw or Mason Mount. Martínez suffered a ruptured ACL against Crystal Palace, with Noussair Mazraoui therefore deployed at left-centre-back against Leicester.

Matthijs de Ligt could return to the side this time. New signing Patrick Dorgu made his debut in the FA Cup, inexplicably deployed at right-wing-back, despite being left-footed, before being hooked at half time.

Lastly, in attack, Amorim has decided to deploy Kobbie Mainoo as part of the front three for the last three matches, so will that experiment continue, or will Alejandro Garnacho return to the lineup, following a bright second half display last Friday?

Manchester United predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (3-4-2-1): Onana; Maguire, de Ligt, Mazraoui; Dalot, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu; Amad, Garnacho, Zirkzee.

Manchester United Player to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Bruno Fernandes has nine goals to his name this season, while the midfielder has previously netted thrice against Spurs, albeit he was sent off in the reverse fixture, likely to be key figure either-way here too.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Prediction

This game guarantees goals, but we are boldly backing Spurs to edge-it, making home advantage count, given their impressive recent record against Man United: Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 Manchester United.
